All great music reaches into your very soul, captures the mind and touches the heart. It can tell a story, take you on an incredible journey and target many different types of emotions. Music such as this can only come from the hard work of a great artist, an artist such as George Acosta. With over 20+ years of experiences as a DJ and Producer, George can certainly be considered a driving force in the dance music industry.

Some people might not be aware, but throughout your career you have gone through some changes. At first, you were very successful as an international house DJ and producer. Then you made a successful move to trance, and finally ended up as a leader of progressive house. What marked these changes?

I’ve been djing and producing for over 20 years now. The way I see it, music is constantly evolving. As a DJ and producer, you also need to evolve with the music. It’s important to keep up with what is popular, trendy and with what the music lovers are into and what they like to hear, jam and dance too. Honestly, I can go far back and tell you how the music has slowly gone evolving since I began djing as a teenager, but the biggest change I have seen in dance music has been the switch from the underground trance scene that was popular in the late 90s early 2000s to what it is today. Dance music has become more mainstreamed and accepted since the 90s. It is great to see that dance music has become so popular and has become so in demand since I first began djing many years ago.

What’s coming up on your label AcoMusic?

In my sampler album, AcoMusic 2013 Music Conference Sampler, I have several new and upcoming releases. Just to name a few: Ride it! by Bassfinder and Shipops, Hands Up with AcoStars and Jason Vernau, and Cumbi by George Acosta and George F.

Tell us more about your Vegas residencies. Is Vegas the new Ibiza?

Vegas can definitely be known as the new Ibiza! It has to be right up there as a number #1 hotspot! I’ve had the greatest experiences and the most tremendous times when I’ve performed in Vegas. I honestly can’t get enough and I can’t wait until the next time I go back. I recently had a residency with Encore Beach at the Wynn and I was honored to spin at their many other clubs there as well, such as Surrender. The pool parties are definitely something that needs to be experienced. The vibe is completely phenomenal, from the beautiful women in bikinis dancing, to the celebrities making cameos, the sun, the pool, bottles popping, the people jamming to a great set…you have to just live it for yourself…it’s definitely worth it!

In the line up for Vegas 2014, I’ve got Sapphire Day Club, The Wynn, Hard Rock, and Marquee and I am looking forward to all of my shows there! Can’t wait!!!!

The most magical moment you experienced behind the decks?

I think I just described it in the question before! Undoubtedly, any of my Vegas pool party shows have been the ultimate experience for me. Of course, there have been other magical moments throughout my career, I’ve been blessed and fortunate enough to have performed all over the world in so many shows and venues, so honestly each experience has been memorable for it’s own special reasons.

What was the best business move that enhanced your career to great benefit?

Believe it or not, the best business move that enhanced my career greatly was going back to school, studying at SAE and earning a degree as a sound engineer. I can definitely say my sound has grown and matured and improved once I accomplished my goal in becoming a sound engineer. Best move I ever made!

An artist outside of EDM you would love to work with one time?

Truthfully, it would be an honor to work with a legend, such as the group U2. They are always reinventing themselves and keep coming back better than ever!

Is there anything else you would like to mention?

Of course, I am currently working on a second release under Steve Aoki’s label, Dim Mak. Also, I have some releases coming out on AcoMusic as I stated before and I have a compilation album for my Sirius XM radio show, The Lost World Volume 2 coming out soon. And let’s not forgot my forth-coming artist album titled, All Of Me, with single releases coming from the album as well.

George Acosta will perform April 12th @ Volume Seattle!
